It was a Friday night well after 5 pm when my Son called to tell me he thought he had gotten a piece of wood stuck in his eye from his job in construction. By the time he arrived home, his eye was bloodshot, and I could see he was in a lot of pain. My heart began to sink as my brain instantly began to contemplate solutions on where to take him—knowing that the majority of private practice doctors are closed on the weekends. My next thought was to call Lens Crafters. Having been a patient in another state for over twenty years, they had always done a fantastic job helping me with my contact lenses; I was hoping they could handle a minor emergency, knowing if not, my next option would probably be a trip to the emergency room. After a lovely conversation with the woman at the front desk, she confirmed they could see him, so off we went the following day, unsure of what awaited us.
As we sat in the lobby, waiting, I noticed a lovely Doctor coming out to greet the patients. Seeing her calm and gentle demeanor gave me a sense of peace. As mothers, we always want the best for our children, and even when they are almost grown and taller than us, we still see them as little people that we want to protect from all of the uncomfortable experiences in life. As she walked back with each patient, I knew I had found the perfect Doctor for my son. It wasn't long before the tech took us back to begin the routine procedures, and then we were greeted by Dr. Mo, who escorted us into her office.

After a detailed explanation of ocular anatomy and how the eye works, she explained that she may not be able to treat the wood splinter lodged in his cornea and may need to refer us to a specialist. After telling us she would try her best, Dr. Mo examined his eye to see how deep the wood splinter had embedded itself.
She confirmed that she would try, and within a few moments, Dr. Mo removed the splinter from the cornea. She then re-examined to see the significance of the damage the splinter may have left behind. She also explained how quickly the cornea heals. I was surprised to learn that the cornea is the fastest-healing part of our body. After prescribing an antibiotic and eyedrops, she rescheduled us for a follow-up visit the next day.

As we left the office, a sense of relief washed over me, knowing that he was fine and everything was going to be okay. What made the greatest impact on this experience for me was the kindness and gentleness of care that Dr. Mo demonstrated during every part of our time with her. There is no question in my mind that she loves her work and does a fantastic job.
If you ever need a highly skilled optometrist who is kind, patient, and has a fantastic bedside manner, I highly recommend making an appointment with Dr. Mo at LensCrafters in the Shops of WebbGin. The staff at Lens Crafters does a phenomenal job, and Dr. Mo is one of a kind.
